Effect of Retraction Using Mini-implant with Vertical Vector
Jung Seok-Ki

Abstract
With the recent development, mini-implants are used in various cases of orthodontic treatment. It is especially useful as a reinforced anchorage which enables the increase of retraction. This report focused on the phenomenon that happens when the direction of retraction changes more vertically during closure of the extraction space. Vertical changes in the direction of retraction led to more intrusion of the anterior and posterior teeth, resulting in counterclockwise rotation of the mandible. Because of the rotation of the mandible, the chin of the patient advanced, and as a result, the correction of anterior protrusion became more dramatic. After treatment, the patient had improved facial appearance and the result was stable for 1 year after treatment.
